Student Email Accounts

You automatically receive an Anglia Ruskin student email account when you become a registered student at our University; this includes students at partner organisations as well as on our campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, London and Peterborough.

Your account helps to keep you in touch with other students and academics, as well as news and information from our University.

All important University news and information will be sent to your student email account. You must check it regularly for news and information related to your studies.

We use a cloud-based service called Office 365 to provide our students with all the features that you would expect from a student email service plus a number of additional benefits:

  • 25GB of email storage and a large attachment limit (25MB)
  • your email on the go from a variety of tablets, smart phones and other mobile devices
  • access to the latest versions of Microsoft Office tools from your desktop
  • a full calendar and meeting request service
  • customise the look of your mail box
  • access to the University global address list

Email archiving system (eVault)

Enterprise Vault or eVault is our automatic email archiving system. Mailbox items that are more than two months old are automatically archived and stored on the eVault server. This means that email will no longer be stored locally and also offers the added benefit of being completely secure and centrally backed-up.

It is important that you read section 2.2 Archiving in our our Email Policy for further information on archiving at Anglia Ruskin University.

This system is automatic and does not require any user intervention. All electronic mail in your mailbox that is older than two months is automatically archived and stored on the eVault server.
If your email is has an attachment size of more than 10MB, this will be automatically archived after 7 days. All archived emails remain in the vault for a period of two years before they are then permenantly removed.

You should regularly remove items from our Filestore that are no longer needed to ensure that there is sufficient storage for our growing University.
