Our aims

Our key aims are to:

  • Ensure that our students have a positive experience of our University IT and online services
  • Facilitate students and staff to use their own devices
  • University services are readily accessible and greater personalisation and choice in our student and staff portals
  • Management information systems provide 'a single version of the truth' to support decision-making
  • Our University network is reliable, secure and robust, and can meet the future needs of our University
  • Our services contribute to reducing the carbon footprint
  • Increase customer satisfaction with our services
  • To provide modern learning and teaching facilities

Current key priorities:

  • To improve our University student data system (SITS) - SITS Core Capabilities Project
  • To deliver the new Content Management System and Customer Relationship Management System
  • To further develop our University Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
  • To refresh the audio-visual facilities in a number of our classrooms and lecture theatres (four year replacement cycle)
  • To deploy Microsoft Office and Lync 2013 to student and staff desktops
  • To provide more efficient and environmentally sustainable IT solutions
  • Develop our Identity Management System
  • Recruit our new IT Training Team
  • Enhance the security and robustness of our University network
