£9,800 generated for the British Heart Foundation

Over the summer we worked with the BHF to collect items students didn‘t wish to take with them when they moved out of halls. The BHF estimates that a bag donated by a student is worth £14 to them.

From June to August we collected an amazing 700 bags from the Student Village in Chelmsford and Swinhoe, Anastasia, Peter Taylor & our nomination halls in Cambridge.

These bags have an estimated worth of £9,800 to the BHF and diverts 5.6 tonnes from the waste stream.

The BHF has funded the below locally to us:

  • 87 AEDs
  • 20,181 Healthy Heart Resources issued
  • 2 BHF Retail Shop
  • 43 Health at Work Members
  • 3 School provided with CPR Training
  • University Grants

At our Chelmsford campus we now have a permanent donation box outside the SU volunteering office, ground floor Tindal.
