The Student Satisfaction Improvement Group (SSIG)

The Student Satisfaction Improvement Group (SSIG) was set up in May 2010 with the specific remit of improving student satisfaction. The Group has representatives from the Students’ Union, each faculty and from student-facing professional services and is Chaired by Professor Aletta Norval, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) with the Director of Student Services as Vice-Chair.

The Group meets monthly for one-and-a-half hours by video conference and meetings - are “businesslike and snappy”! Our intention is to ensure that we get things done. You can see our terms of reference but in summary we work to constantly improve the student experience and student satisfaction. We measure this by using student surveys, such the NSS and module evaluation, and a wide range of other kinds of student feedback. A wide range of topics is discussed at SSIG and recent examples include the National Student Survey, ILoveARU, the Student Engagement Dashboard, Welcome and the Student Charter.

If you have any ideas you’d like to share with the group, whether you are a student or member of staff, please email our SSIG Secretary.
