Information for Tier 4 students

Your tier 4 visa requires you to be in regular attendance throughout your studies and for UK Visa and Immigration purposes attendance refers to face-to-face contact.

To give yourself the best chance of success in your studies and to protect your immigration status it is important that you know what your responsibilities are as a Tier 4 student. Make sure you follow the attendance monitoring scheme operated by ARU – full details are available on the Compliance web pages.

For UG/PG taught students:

  • It is expected that you will attend and ‘tap-in’ to all classes. You must tap into the classroom at the start of every class. To do this, press your ARU student card against the card reader in the classroom. We will review attendance data regularly during teaching periods and contact all students who have poor attendance. Please do not ignore any emails from tier4attendance@anglia.ac.uk – you should reply to any and visit your faculty offices if required.
  • Masters students taking their Final Major Project with no other attendance requirements will need to sign in at their Fcaulty Office / Helpdesk every two weeks.
  • If you have been absent or know you will be away from your studies please refer to our Notification of Absence process and form on the Compliance web pages.
  • If you persistently do not meet attendance requirements or are unable to satisfactorily explain the reasons for your absence you may be withdrawn from your course and we will report this to UKVI.

Please note that research students should also refer to Research Degrees Regulations for details of their attendance monitoring process. If you receive any emails from our ARU student visa compliance team you must respond immediately.
