Employability Information for Postgraduates and Research Students

Student in library

The Employability Service provides a range of services tailored to meet the very specific needs of our postgraduate students.

The Employability Service is here to help you negotiate the job market and make the most appropriate choices at all stages in your career. We hold an extensive online information library, where in-depth advice and guidance can be easily accessed.

Faculty specific Employability Advisers can help you look at ways of building your experience to give you the best chance of getting the job you want. They can also help you identify occupational areas for further research, as well as giving advice on application and interview techniques. One-to-one appointments can be booked at any stage of your postgraduate course. You may wish to see a Careers Adviser at an early stage of career planning to discuss the opportunities available or possibly a Faculty Employability Adviser at a later stage to talk through an application or interview.

We can also help you find opportunities to gain temporary paid employment around your studies through our Employment Bureau.

A wide range of employability workshops are offered to students including a number designed specifically for postgraduate students. These include: Careers Planning, How to write an academic/non-academic CV, Job Search and Networking, Succeeding at Interview.
