Researcher Development Observatory

Developing your knowledge and skills in research and innovation

Here we provide easy access to the support we offer for the career development of researchers.

In 2018/19 we have over sixty researcher development and transferable skills workshops, events and online courses designed and delivered by external expert facilitators and academic and professional colleagues here at Anglia Ruskin.

To help you find relevant CPD, we have categorised all of the researcher development opportunities into ten broad areas. These relate to Vitae’s Researcher Development Framework, but are tailored to meet the particular needs of ARU researchers, as identified in the 2017 Researcher Development Staff Consultation. You can also join our new Researcher Development Network.

Please click on a tile below to explore the opportunities available in each area of researcher development, or alternatively download our overview guide to find the right modules for you:

Bookings & Cancellations

  • Bookings & cancellations can be made via the links on the pages of the RDO website, or direct in Eventbrite for most, though not all, sessions.
  • If you have booking or cancellation queries, please contact StaffRDP@anglia.uk
  • Please be aware of our cancellation policy

Late cancellations or attendance for only part of a workshop, can be extremely disruptive. If you cannot attend a session(s) you may send a substitute. However, if notification is received within 3 working days of the event and no substitute is provided, a cancellation fee of £50 may be charged to your faculty/support service. Workshops which are undersubscribed may be deferred or cancelled at the discretion of the providing department.

On rare occasions, we may have to cancel a session with little or no notice. In the event of this situation arising we will endeavour to notify delegates before they arrive for a session and (where possible) reschedule the session. In these circumstances the £50 cancellation fee will not be charged.
