How do I change a class time on my personal timetable?

Want to change a time on your timetable?

If there are multiple deliveries of some of your classes (e.g. four seminars/tutorials for a module you are taking), and you wish to change times, it is possible to do so if there is space in the group you wish to move to.

How do I find out when alternative times are running?

Visit http://my.timetable.anglia.ac.uk/TSM-SWS-1112/default.aspx. Here you will be able to find the general timetable for each module. This information will be published by Monday 30 July 2012 for next year's timetable (academic year 2012/13).  Use this link to check the general timetable for a module you wish to try and move times for - you will be able to see when/where alternative classes are running.

What do I do next?

Complete an online time change form, available at www.anglia.ac.uk/timechange

Please complete this online form, ensuring that all of the fields are completed. It is essential the student email address entered is correct. A completed copy of your form will automatically be sent to the Timetabling team to be processed.  You will receive an e-mail confirming your request so that you know it has been sent successfully.

What happens next?

  • Timetabling will receive your request via e-mail
  • We aim to respond to you within 5 working days.  Often it will be sooner, but in peak times we do get a large number of e-mail queries and change requests, so please bear with us, and don’t resend your request as it will slow us down
  • We will check group numbers for the module(s) you wish to change and if there are spaces left in your preferred classes we will update your timetable
  • We will contact you to let you know if your request has been possible, if it has, you will be able to see an updated timetable on E-Vision

What if my request is refused?

We will do our best to accommodate your request, but if a class is full we will not be able to alter your timetable.  Changes are made on a first come, first served basis and we process e-mails in date/time order to ensure this is fair.

Please do not ask Timetabling staff to bend the rules for you, we want to help you modify your timetable as far as possible but we cannot bend the rules – it is not fair on other students.

On occasion, there are some modules where your lecturer will have specified that students should not move groups.  This will be for reasons such as:

  • Students are allocated together in personal tutor groups
  • Students are allocated together by pathway
  • Students are allocated into groups for group work

If this is the case, we will advise you if the change is not possible, and give you a reason why.

When do I have to make my request(s)?

You can put in a request to change your seminar or tutorial as soon as your personal timetable has been made available. Changes must be made by the end of the second week of teaching each semester/trimester. The deadline for time change requests 2012/2013 is Friday of Week 2 Semester 1/Trimester 1 (Friday 5 October 2012).

Can I make any changes after the deadline of the 5 October 2012?

There will be an opportunity again later in the year to request changes to your Semester 2/Trimester 2/3 timetables, but no further changes for Semester 1/Trimester 1 will be allowed after this date. Please note that if you make requests later in the year, options available may be limited, as many students make changes to their whole year’s timetable after it is released in July. This means many groups will be full.

Why do you have a deadline for making changes?

It's important that seminar and tutorial groups are settled early in the semester so that your tutors can divide you into smaller groups for activities and so that you can get to know the other students in your group. It also helps us to monitor attendance correctly.

What happens if I just turn up for a class without officially making a change?

You will not be on the register and therefore your attendance will not be properly monitored.  This could lead you to being wrongly chased for non-attendance, or the lecturer might ask you to leave.  It will also take classes over their maximum capacity making rooms crowded and uncomfortable.  Your e-vision timetable will also be out of date.
