You said we did ...

We want to make sure Estates and Facilities Services are meeting all your needs, as a student or staff member.

We take care of the buildings and properties, and this includes new developments, catering, timetabling, accommodation services and environmental management. We would like to hear any comments, complaints or compliments you may have please let us know.

You wanted healthier, cheaper options served in our catering facilities across all of our campuses

All fresh fruit and vegetables have been permanently reduced in price by 50%. We have also made a price reduction in several other healthy eating options from 23%-29%.

We have increased our range of reduced fat sandwiches and baguettes, packaged fruits, nuts, seeds, dried fruit.

We are not adding salt to our freshly cooked dishes in Cambridge and Chelmsford. We have also reduced sugar in freshly made desserts where possible.

We have introduced items to our salad bar without dressing.
You wanted more variety of food at lunchtime

Pop up street food served from vans/tents has been introduced at Chelmsford and Cambridge to offer an alternative which includes barbecue style, Asian, vegetarian, European etc.

Food cooked to order is now available in the Rivermead restaurant Chelmsford.

The quality and selection of sandwiches and salads available at Peterborough has been improved.

You wanted hot food available at weekends in Cambridge 24/7 hot food is now available from vending machines in The Street Café near the library in Cambridge
You wanted quicker service in the restaurant at Cambridge An extra till has been added in the Helmore Restaurant to help speed up the service
You wanted more baby changing units available on the Chelmsford campus We installed 6 more in December 2015 and added them to our campus maps.
You wanted to be able to view Course Induction timetables on our university app Timetabling and Student Services worked together to make this happen and this new service was introduced in September 2015.
You wanted to find out what your timetable would be like before starting your course/applying for a course We made example student timetables available online along with advice on how your timetable is put together.
You wanted better internet in our halls of residence The broadband in our halls of residence in Cambridge and Chelmsford was upgraded to 25MB in September 2015.
You said your bedrooms in the Chelmsford Student Village were too cold We increased the minimum temperature in all the rooms from 18°c to 21°c, which will keep the room warmer and help save energy because you won‘t need to use the heater‘s ‘boost button‘ so frequently.
You said the some of our accommodation needed modernising

We refurbished 4 flats this year, as part of an on-going refurbishment programme across the Chelmsford Student Village.

We also refurbished 4 kitchens in Peter Taylor House and carried out improvements in several of our University-managed houses in Cambridge, including a complete refurbishment of 1 Collier Road.

You asked for soft drinks to be included in the I Love ARU Friday promotion as well as hot drinks

We changed the deal to include soft drinks.
