What’s happening on campus in April 2012

The Project Team is planning approximately 40 refurbishments and improvements in Chelmsford. You can find the full list of current projects under ‘Useful information‘.

Upcoming projects for Summer 2012

  • 200 new computer work stations will be added to the library.
  • The main lift in Queen’s building will be replaced.
  • The library desk and IT helpdesk areas will be reconfigured.

Recently completed plaza redevelopment

  • Roadworks and plaza redevelopment works between the Lord Ashcroft building (formerly Michael A. Ashcroft building) and the Rivermead shops has been completed. There will be additional minor work on the area, including building a sun/rain shelter.
  • This project increases the area for pedestrians, improve pedestrian and cycle routes, and create a greener environment that compliments the design and landscaping of our campus. The project has been delivered in three separate phases:

Completed Essex-based major building projects

  • Our most recent major build, the University Centre Harlow, opened for teaching for the start of the 2011/12 Academic Year.
  • We have completed eight brand new buildings over the last eight years in Essex, carried out major roadworks to allow the Park and Ride bus to pass through campus, and a remediation of the Mill Pond. You can read more about our recently completed major projects on campus, and our joint ventures of which some are Essex-based.
