Waste and recycling

ARU Waste and recycling logo

Recycling your rubbish on campus is now easier as a result of our new waste and recycling contractors. We are rolling out new orange ‘mixed recycling‘ bins that allow you to recycle a range of materials rather than needing to put them in separate bins. Wherever you see the new orange ‘Mixed Recycling‘ bins you will be able to deposit the range of materials displayed in the below table, this will make recycling easier and also increase the amount we recycle by reducing contamination of separate waste streams. Please help us to achieve our recycling and recovery target of 60% by July 2015, this will also help us save money, as it costs us half as much to dispose of mixed recycling than general waste.

Electrical and electronic disposal

Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (or WEEE) contains a complex mixture of materials which are harmful to the environment. It is important we dispose of these items correctly or we could face prosecution. Please log all WEEE disposals through the helpdesk by either using Estates Online or calling x6464.

If you are ever in doubt about how you should dispose of something please contact us.
