University Arts Council

University Arts Council logo

The University Arts Council exists to enrich the cultural life of students, staff and the wider University community by providing financial support for, and encouraging involvement in, a wide variety of creative arts activities.

You don't have to be an expert to enjoy singing, dancing, playing in a band, sketching, acting, writing, helping run a society or club -- or whatever taps into your creative energies. We believe strongly in getting involved, and hope these pages give you an idea of what the University Arts Council does and the support it can provide.

For further information, and for links to the web sites of national, regional and local arts organisations, please click on the Contacts link.

The University Arts Council supports:

Music, photography, drama, visual arts, literature, crafts, film, digital technologies, displays, workshops, performances, exhibits . . . and more. In fact, almost anything that involves creative arts! When making funding decisions, highest priority goes to activities that encourage people to get involved. Cross-disciplinary arts projects are also encouraged.

But not:

  • activities that do not involve Anglia Ruskin students and/or staff
  • activities restricted to students on a particular programme of study
  • activities that unjustifiably exclude people because of their race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion or age
  • activities promoted by or for individuals
  • academic research
  • food and drink
