What is a Study Coach for?

Working with a Study Coach can enable you to refine and develop your academic skills and study strategies to become a more effective independent learner. You can book a one-to-one meeting with a Study Coach to discuss:

  • Note-making skills
  • Essay composition and writing skills
  • Editing skills
  • Organisation
  • Improving performance in examinations
  • Presentation skills

This list is not exhaustive; you should discuss your specific needs with your Study Coach.

If youre not sure, why not come along to one of the Study Skills Plus drop-ins to find out more?

When it may not be a Study Coach you need

We cannot proofread work.
However, we are able to help you with developing your own proofreading skills and can discuss other tips for editing and proofreading your work.

We cannot provide feedback on academic content.
For this, you should contact your tutor or lecturer. For support with researching and referencing academic content, you can also Book a Librarian.

We cannot provide English language support for non-native English speakers.
Language Services Unit provides dedicated academic English language support for non-native English-speaking undergraduate and postgraduate students. Book English Language Support.

What should I bring?

It would be helpful to bring some of your written work or assignment plan with you (preferably something you are currently working on), together with any relevant briefs or reference material.
