The Student Satisfaction Improvement Group (SSIG)

The Student Satisfaction Improvement Group (SSIG) was set up in May 2010 with the specific remit of improving student satisfaction. The Group has representatives from the Students Union, each faculty and from student-facing professional services and is Chaired by Professor Roderick Watkins, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) with Julie Walkling, Director of Student Services as Vice-Chair.

The Group meets monthly for one-and-a-half hours by video conference and meetings - are businesslike and snappy! Our intention is to ensure that we get things done. You can see our terms of reference but in summary we work to constantly improve the student experience and student satisfaction. We measure this by using student surveys, such the NSS and module evaluation, and a wide range of other kinds of student feedback. A wide range of topics is discussed at SSIG and recent examples include the National Student Survey, ILoveARU, the Student Engagement Dashboard, Welcome and the Student Charter.
