Long term health conditions

Under the Equality Act 2010, a person is regarded as being disabled if he/she has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on his/her ability to carry out normal day to day activities. This definition may include people who experience difficulties with mobility, sensory impairments, long term mental health or medical conditions (including cerebral palsy, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, and ME) Autistic Spectrum Disorders and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and ADHD.

Our Study Support Service provides guidance and support to disabled students and will advise you on reasonable adjustments (including individual exam arrangements) and whether you are eligible to apply for Disabled Students Allowances for funding for specialist support.
