First point of contact

First Response Service

The First Response Service supports people experiencing a mental health crisis. Anyone in Cambridgeshire who feels they need urgent support can use the First Response Service. They provide 24-hour access, seven days a week, 365 days a year, to mental health care, advice, support and treatment. By calling 111, and selecting option 2, you will be put through to a member of the first response service who will speak to you and discuss your current mental health needs. They will refer or make an appointment if it is needed.

First Responders can visit you in times of crisis, at whatever time of day, sometimes with a member of the emergency services. They can also refer you to a Sanctuary, a safe place run by mental health charity Mind in Cambridgeshire, that offers people short-term practical and emotional support between 6.00pm and 1.00am.

Please note that all medical emergencies still need to attend A&E at hospital.
