Board of Governors

Anglia Ruskin University was established under the terms of the Foundation Reform Act 1988 and Further and Higher Education Act 1992.

Our Articles of Government state that we must have a Board of Governors and Academic Board (Senate). The Board of Governors is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects and Senate is responsible for academic standards.

The Board of Governors determines the educational character and mission of Anglia Ruskin and the setting of our general strategic direction. More general responsibilities cover finance, property and staffing of our University.

The Act stipulates that there will be up to 24 Board members, made up of a majority of independent members. The Board conducts its business through sub-committees that bring recommendations to the Main Board at regularly scheduled meetings.

The Vice Chancellor has a general responsibility to the Board of Governors for the organisation, direction and management of our University.
