- Q: What is Password Manager?
- A: If you forget your University Login password, Password Manager enables you to reset it yourself securely, online. This is the password that you use to log on to a university owned PC or student email inbox.
- Password Manager is an efficient and convenient way to reset your password without the need to contact student or staff IT support.
- Q: Where can I find Password Manager to reset my password?

- Q: Which passwords can I change?
- A: Currently your University Login only.
- Q: Do I have to use Password Manager?
- A: We are encouraging all our students and staff to use Password Manager to reset their own forgotten University Login passwords. Even if you have not forgotten your password, you should still register with Password Manager and answer the four security questions just in case you forget your password in the future.
- Q: Are there links to Password Manager on the Anglia Ruskin web pages?
- A: Yes via the Webmail and Student ANET pages. Also a link is available via e:Vision.

Who can use Password Manager?
- Q: Who can use Password Manager?
- A: Any student or member of staff with a current University Login username (e.g.ab12) and password. If you have forgotten your password you can still use Password Manager.
- Q: I have both a student and staff login how do I use this service?
- A: Staff and student accounts differ and cannot be combined into a single account. You will need to manage each account separately.
- Q: I have been issued with a temporary username and password by the library. Am I able to use this service?
- A: No. For help you should go to one of our University Library Student IT Helpdesks or contact them via student-ithd@anglia.ac.uk
- Q: I have been locked out of my account can I reset it via Password Manager?
- A: No. Please contact the Student IT Helpdesk or Customer Support (staff only) Ext 4357 or externally via 0845 196 4357.

First time users of Password Manager
- Q: How do I set up my security questions?
- A: They are set up in Password Manager the first time you use it. On this first visit, you need to know your current password.
- Q: I can't remember my current password to access Password Manager to set up my questions. What do I do?
- A: If you need to set up your security questions but can't remember your current password we can give you a PIN.

- Q: I know my current University login and password and I'm ready to set my questions. What do I do?
- A: Go to www.anglia.ac.uk/mypassword and select the 'My Questions and Answers Profile' button.
- Q: When I first use Password Manager will I be forced to change my password?
- A: No. However we want all our students and staff to register with Password Manager just in case you forget your password in the future.

Resetting my forgotten password
- Q: I have forgotten my University Login password – what do I do?
- A: If you have already set up your security questions, go to www.anglia.ac.uk/mypassword to reset your password. If you haven't set up your questions, see the section on First time users above.
- Q: I can’t login to my staff machine to change my password – what do I do?
- A: Staff can use a colleagues’ machine if they are logged in, an open access PC in one of our libraries or a home PC, to access Password Manager.
- Q: I have forgotten my University Login username - can I log in to use Password Manager?
- A: No. Students on campus should seek help at the library IT helpdesks, or via email at student-ithd@anglia.ac.uk. Staff should contact Customer Support on Ext 4357 or externally via 0845 196 4357.
- Q: Will my University Login username be changing?
- A: No it will remain the same for example, ab12.
- Q: I am a member of staff, can I use Password Manager to change my current SITS e:Vision login credentials?
- A: No, although this will be possible in the future.
- Q: I am a Student, can I use my current e:Vision (SID) login to access Password Manager?
- A: No, access is only by using your University Login.

Security Questions
- Q: Why am I being asked to answer four security questions?
- A: Your answers will be stored securely and used to verify your identity should you forget your University Login password (or username) again in the future. It is a security measure to prevent others from changing your password and accessing personal information. Many online banks etc use a similar approach.
- Q: Can I select my own questions?
- A: No, the questions are predetermined.
- Q: How many questions are there?
- A: Four simple questions about you.
- Q: Must I answer all four questions?
- A: Yes
- Q: Can I change the answers to my Private Questions after I have answered them?
- A: Yes certainly the My Questions and Answers Profile option on the main menu will allow you to do this.

Password Expiry
- Q: How often will I be asked to change my password?
- A: University Login passwords currently expire after one year. This is under review.
- Q: How will I know that my password is due to expire?
- A: If you are registered with Password Manager you will receive an advanced reminder in an email to your Anglia student/staff account. You will continue to receive these emails daily until the expiry date or you have changed your password.
- Q: What should I do if my password has already expired?
- A: If you have previously registered with Password Manager you can reset your password at www.anglia.ac.uk/mypassword.
- Note: If you try to access an Open Access or Staff PC you will be forced to reset your password before access is granted.
- Q: My password has expired and I am not registered with the Password Manager Service. Can I register now and reset my password?
- A: Unfortunately no as this would compromise the security policy of our University. Students on campus should seek help at the Library IT helpdesks, or via email at student-ithd@anglia.ac.uk. Staff should contact Customer Support on Ext 4357 or externally via 0845 196 4357.
- Q: Can I use the same password again?
- A: No, this is not permitted.
- Q: I have received an email from the University Password Manager Service saying that my password is about to expire. How do I know if it is genuine?
- A: No legitimate email will ever ask you to reveal your username or password. Please carefully read all of the following:
- 1. You should only receive an email informing you that your password is due to change if you have previously registered with the Password Manager Service.
- 2. The email will be sent from mypassword@anglia.ac.uk [mailto:mypassword@anglia.ac.uk]
- 3. The email will not ask you to provide any information, for example your username, password, SID etc.
- 4. The email will not contain any live web links.
- 5. It will be addressed to your Anglia Ruskin email account. You need to check this carefully if you have forwarding set on your Anglia Ruskin account.
- 6. Variance on any one of the items in this list will indicate that the message is not genuine. Full compliance does not absolutely confirm that it is genuine.
- Do not reply to any email if you are in any doubt about its origin.
