Bridge International

BRIDGE INTERNATIONAL is a five year project funded for one year initially, set up to promote entrepreneurship in South Africa. It is funded by ABSA (a subsidiary of Barclays Bank plc) and delivered through the South African Government’s Black Economic Empowerment initiative (BEE).

BEE promotes employment and economic opportunities for the black community within South Africa. The Bridge International project will select twenty five entrepreneurial businesses in three cohorts from across the country and provide them with intensive training in a bootcamp run by Stellenbosch University in collaboration with CEDAR. Following a further twelve week long business internationalisation training programme, the South Africa entrepreneurs will then be brought to the UK for a week long visit hosted by CEDAR. The UK visit is the pinnacle of the project with the aim of providing the South African entrepreneurs with networking opportunities with potential UK trading partners, introducing them to UK business culture and providing introductions to potential UK investors. Following the conclusion of the first year pilot, the project will then be rolled out to further territories across Africa.
