In response to feedback received from students the Academic Office has taken the following action to address issues raised:

1. Earlier publication of the examination timetable

We published the timetable for the January 2011 examinations on 5 November 2010, three weeks earlier than in the past. We sent all students at the Chelmsford and Cambridge campuses an email telling them that the timetable was published and giving the web address where it could be accessed. The email also included information about the mitigation process with a link to the information on My.Anglia about mitigation.

2. Partner College students and exams

We sent an email to all UK Partner Colleges advising them that the examination timetable had been published so that students could be advised without delay of their examination dates. We sent the colleges a spreadsheet, which could be adapted for use locally, detailing the schedule of exams.

3. Face-to-face meetings for Research Students

In 2009/10 face-to-face meetings conducted by an experienced supervisor, independent of a student’s supervisory team, was introduced as part of annual monitoring for all research students. For new research students starting in 2010/11 two meetings will be held in the first year. These meetings are designed to assist students in making timely progress.

4. Module Catalogue

Working with colleagues in Estates and Facilities Services, we have improved the My.Anglia Module Catalogue by removing the time lag that existed previously when module details were updated. All Module Definition Forms (MDFs) held on the Catalogue are now derived from a single source of data; any changes made to MDFs are available to users within 24 hours. Students can now therefore access reliable and accurate module information via the catalogue.
