The purpose of the external examining system in UK higher education is to help institutions to ensure that:
External Examiners are responsible to the Senate as the body which authorises conferment of Anglia Ruskin's awards. They are asked to report on whether academic standards set by Anglia Ruskin University are at an appropriate level and to compare Anglia Ruskin's standards with those of similar programmes at other UK HE institutions.
