The purpose of the external examining system in UK higher education is the provision of informative comments and recommendations upon whether or not:
External Examiners are responsible to the Senate as the body which authorises conferment of Anglia Ruskin's awards. External Examiners are asked to report on whether academic standards set by Anglia Ruskin University are at an appropriate level and to compare Anglia Ruskin's standards with those of similar programmes at other UK HE institutions.

Staff and Students can also view External Examiners' Annual Reports for the 2015/16 academic year, together with the responses to those reports from the relevant Head of Department.
