The following is intended as a brief guide to direct proposers through their proposal. Full details can be found in Section 6 of the Senate Code of Practice on Curriculum Approval and Review.
Senior staff from the Academic Office conduct an initial scrutiny of all curriculum revisions proposals to determine whether these require formal consideration by the relevant Subcommittee or if they can be implemented without further reference, for example, where proposals concern:
• changes to section 5 of the MDF concerning module restrictions
• changes to section 6d of the MDF concerning specialist learning
resources
• changes to section 8 of the MDF concerning learning activities
• archiving of modules
• limited additions/deletions to lists of designate modules on
CSFs
A guide setting out which types of proposal can be implemented in this way is available here.
Changes to module leadership and updates to indicative reading lists
do not require formal approval and can be updated at any time by the
Module Leader via the Manage My Curriculum facility on e-vision.
Where a modification is proposed to an existing Module Definition Form (excluding Module Leader and Key texts and the addition of a blended/distance learning delivery mode) the following process applies:
1) Please print the existing MDF (in PDF format) either from the Module
Catalogue or Manage My
Curriculum.
NB MDFs accessible via the Module Catalogue are generated from e-vision
and are updated every 24 hours. There is therefore a small time delay
for any amendments to show on the Catalogue.
2) Please complete the Cover
paper - Module Amendments, one form per module. Please refer to
the Notes
of Guidance when considering the changes you wish to make to the
module.
• Identify in the left hand column of the relevant box the sections
of the MDF you wish to change
• Detail in the right hand column the change you intend to make
and include the complete and exact text you wish to appear in that section
of the revised MDF
NB It is important to make absolutely clear to the Panel what is
changing. Ideally the old and new text should be clearly shown; if this
is not possible please ensure that the Panel will be able to easily
identify the changes you are proposing to the existing section. It
is possible to copy and paste text from the PDF version into the Cover
Paper template and then amend it.
All changes must be approved by the Head of Department. Any proposed amendment to Section 7 of the MDF (intended learning outcomes) requires a revised version of the learning outcomes mapping exercise (completed originally at the Course Approval Event for the relevant course(s)) to be submitted to demonstrate the revised module’s continued contribution to the achievement of the course learning outcomes.
3) Please append the existing MDF (in PDF form) to the cover paper
and submit both by email to curriculum-revisions@anglia.ac.uk.
Deadlines for submission to the relevant Subcommittee are detailed here.
