The Research Degrees Unit supports the administration of research degrees at Anglia Ruskin University. The Unit provides an executive secretarial service and professional and expert guidance and advice to the Faculty Research Degrees Sub-Committees, Research Degress Sub-Committee and Research Committee. The Unit also facilitates the administration of research degree examinations. The Research Degrees Unit provides compulsory training for Chairs of Annual Monitoring Review Meetings and offers training for Research Degrees Supervisors on Processes and Procedures, which is held each semester.
The Research Degrees Unit comprises a team of five staff, led by the Research Degrees Manager, Lorraine Shotliff, and is located in Ashby House (2nd floor) in Chelmsford.
Anglia Ruskin University supports over 400 research degree students, studying for MPhil, PhD, MD(res), PhD and MD by publication, and Professional Doctorates in Business Administration, Education, Health and Social Care, Practical Theology, Built Environment and Laws. Subjects range from Architecture and Building Design to Philosophy and Leisure Studies. The majority study on a part-time basis and a sizeable proportion is based in countries outside the United Kingdom.
