ACADEMIC REGISTRY

A Secretariat Service for the Senate Committee Structure

The Academic Registry provides professional and administrative support to the Senate and its Standing Committees, ensuring their effective participation in the academic life of Anglia Ruskin University and in networking with UK Associate Colleges. The Assistant Academic Registrar (Academic Governance), Caroline Watts, leads our secretriat service for the Senate committee structure assisted by officers from the Assessment Service, Quality Assurance Service and Curriculum Records Service and supported by the Academic Regirsty Administration Team.

Senate and its Standing Committees

The Academic Registry provides professional administrative support, including an executive secretarial service to the Senate and its Standing Committees. We provide advice and guidance on the governance of the Senate and its Standing Committees and are also responsible for producing the calendar of University meetings each year.

Honorary Degrees

Anglia Ruskin University offers the following Honorary Degrees:

Master of Arts (Hon MA) Doctor of Education (Hon EdD) Doctor of Music (Hon DMus)
Master of Science (Hon MSc) Doctor of Health Sciences (Hon DHSc) Doctor of Science (Hon DSc)
Doctor of Arts (Hon DA) Doctor of Laws (Hon LLD) Doctor of Technology (Hon D Tech)
Doctor of Business Administration (Hon DBA) Doctor of Letters (Hon D Litt) Doctor of Theology (Hon DTh)

In addition, Anglia Ruskin offers the award of an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of:

  • important and substantial services to Anglia Ruskin University
  • contribution to the community life of Anglia Ruskin University and association with Anglia Ruskin University over a sustained period of time
  • facilitation of links between Anglia Ruskin University and the community or a partner organisation

Each recipient of an Honorary Degree or Fellowship shall be awarded that degree at a Graduation ceremony. Honorary Degrees and Fellowships shall not normally be awarded in absentia.

Candidates for the award of Honorary Degrees or Honorary Fellowship may be proposed by any member of Senate or by the Governing Body. The criteria for nominations for both awards are set out in the document 'Regulations for the award of Honorary Degrees and Fellowships and the process for nominations for Honorary Degrees and Fellowships' found below:

Professorships, Readerships and Other Titles

There is an annual call in April for applications from existing members of staff who wish to be considered for appointment as a Professor or Reader of Anglia Ruskin University.

Nominations of appropriate individuals as Visiting Professors or Readers may be made at any time by a PVC and Dean of Faculty or Director of Professional Service.
