Specialising in the area of skills and knowledge development for international SMEs, The Centre for International Business Research and Development (CIB) draws upon the expertise of a core team of researchers within the Ashcroft International Business School.

We provide consulting services in the following area
  • Detailed needs analysis and skills audit
  • Skills and knowledge development
  • Higher level management training in the areas of strategy, market analysis, intercultural management, financial management and general management
  • Economic Forecasting
  • Contract research work
  • Advice and consulting for government support agencies
  • Short-term project advice
  • Project management
Our research work is global in scope, reflecting the contemporary nature of business activity. Whilst the 'enterprise' or company is the focus of our work, we are also interested in the mechanisms driving business development and innovation and in the acquisition and transfer of skills and knowledge underpinning those mechanisms.

The Vision for the Centre for International Business

  1. To build upon current relationships with regional, national and international governmental and non-governmental funding organisations and to translate this network into bidding opportunities for future research and consultancy work.
  2. To develop our relationships with enterprises within the Eastern region to create opportunities for the two-way transfer of skills and knowledge for the benefit of the enterprises themselves and the students and staff at AIBS.
  3. To create opportunities to feed research and consulting activities of the Centre into the teaching programmes of the School.
  4. To make a major contribution to the next Research Assessment Exercise through the publication of research papers in highly rated refereed journals.
  5. To present research papers at the key national and international conferences within the relevant areas of activity thereby raising the profile and reputation of the Ashcroft International Business School within the international research community.
